A cozy mystery set in the rural Scottish Highlands, centering on the new owner of a bookstore, and her “Armchair Detectives” crime book club.
Beth Cunningham is a thirty-four year old woman, newly released from the care of her ailing mother by the trauma of her death. Now the owner of a bookstore in the highlands, (a life-long dream for Beth), she may, in fact, see it all slip away as Beth and her book club become entangled in a murder.
Beth’s future may lie in hands of her colorful staff, who rally around her to solve the mystery, in this, the first of a new series featuring Beth and her colleagues.
This book, (which has received a number of very positive reviews) unfortunately, turned out to be a middling experience for this reader, who had been hoping for more. More everything — Scottish atmosphere, charm, characters to care about, and above all, a more satisfying mystery.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for an ARC of this book. All thoughts presented are my own.
