Tequila

🌟🌟🌟🌟

A non-stop thriller which mixes Mexican drug cartel sheer and bloody terror with the incredible saga of a simple tequila-producing family, who grows from 1950’s Mexico to present day, along the way becoming a hugely successful, and absolutely dysfunctional, globally situated corporate dynasty, modeled with the moniker “RAM”.

Peopled with characters running the gamut from horrifying and evil to sensible to good-hearted, this is mainly the story of Maria Ramirez, a strong and Harvard-educated woman who runs the RAM empire (and her family) from Manhattan in the best way she knows how, despite the failings of her two brothers, the dark and scheming Miguel, and the alcoholic shambles that is her brother Tomaso.

The story begins with the divorce proceedings instigated by Nora Ramirez, the wife of Tomaso, and the readers introduction to her lawyer Brian Youngman, a handsome and successful practitioner in the L.A. area.

Without giving the plot away, this story will expand to include all the twists of a Mexican-based Godfather or Narcos story (with both good guys and the hideously evil), with the compelling and disturbing line of family-based characters one might find in the TV drama “Succession”.

A terrific read from a real-time debut author who also happens to be a successful lawyer, this is a good choice for readers who enjoy fast-paced action, drama, and a whole lot of terror.

A great big thank you to Netgalley, the author, and the publisher for an ARC of this book. All thoughts presented are my own.
