My stop today on the @rrbooktours1 #blogtour for the YA/NA book @Catwalk by @nicolegabor
“I was sick of following the rules”.
What teenage girl hasn’t dreamed of chucking it all in – college, suburbia, ( and parents), and heading for a new beginning in the bright lights of NYC. Catherine (Cat) Watson, 18 years old, wants to be someone new – a fashion model – and is ready to take her best shot at getting there.
“A place where I could reinvent myself to become anything, anyone, if only I could beak free of my own fears”.
Cat’s world soon becomes a blur of desperate dreams and photo shoots, overlaid with parties, cocktails, glamour, excitement, new loves, and travel. A whole new world, much of it not at all what Cat was expecting, beckons, and before long, Cat finds herself swept up in a new persona with new friends, a new outlook, and a whole new life.
Told with an insiders view that reads as grimly authentic, as Cat’s world unfolds we are introduced to a sordid expose of the “real” world of modeling. Along the way, the reader can’t help but question, along with Cat, just what things actually build true happiness, and are worth fighting for, after all.
With delicious irony, (and no spoilers here!) as we near the book’s satisfying conclusion, Cat finds her way though to her own deeply-personal revelation, with an acknowledgement that ends up ringing true on several levels.
“(My) vapid beauty saved me”.
You will need to read this lovely book to find out more.
A great big thank you to the author and the publisher for an ARC of this book. All thoughts presented are my own.
